Take wellness to a whole new level with a Cold Plunge in San Jose. The Cold Plunge is a wellness tub that utilizes cold hydrotherapy to elevate your energy, enhance muscle recovery, strengthen your immune system, boost your mood, and so much more.

What Is the Cold Plunge?

Cold hydrotherapy existed all the way back in 3,500 BCE. It started in Egypt and is one of the earliest known medical treatments for physical ailments.

Nowadays, cold hydrotherapy can be expensive. Founders Michael Garrett and Ryan Duey created a more affordable option—the Cold Plunge.

Cold Plunge Benefits

The Cold Plunge provides numerous health and wellness benefits:

  • Quickly boosts daily energy
  • Used in sports medicine for faster muscle recovery
  • Strengthens the immune system by stimulating white blood cells
  • Increases dopamine (the motivation hormone)
  • Balances hormones and reduces depression
  • Reduces inflammation and chronic pain
  • Relieves stress, decreases anxiety, and improves overall mood
  • Promotes better relaxation and sleep

How Does the Cold Plunge Work?

Cold water immersion at temperatures between 38℉ to 45℉ stimulates white blood cells, or leukocytes, in the body. Leukocytes are responsible for fighting off illnesses and diseases. Think of them as the body’s army traveling through the bloodstream.

Immersing the body in cold water also causes the lymphatic system to contract. This system keeps body fluid levels in balance while also defending the body from infections.

Hormones that the Cold Plunge boosts include dopamine (the motivation hormone) and norepinephrine (a neurotransmitter hormone that maintains blood pressure). The Cold Plunge also reduces cortisol, also known as the stress hormone.

Am I a Good Candidate for the Cold Plunge?

Anyone can take a cold plunge! There is no age limit for using the wellness tub for relaxation. It is designed to provide health benefits while challenging the body with cold temperatures.

Just remember that your safety is a priority. Only stay immersed in cold water within your cold temperature tolerance. Do not stay longer than you can if you feel unsafe. Make sure to let your body get accustomed to cold baths. Start with higher temperatures before trying the lower ones.

People with altered skin sensation or impaired circulation must not try the Cold Plunge, since this can risk overall health. Consult with us to explore alternatives.

Medical Professionalism

PROVIDED BY CUPERTINO FACIAL ESTHETICS

Our medical spa is managed by the team at Cupertino Facial Esthetics. This means you’ll receive premium care using only FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers, and all services are offered by our experienced team of medical providers.

At Cupertino, our approach to anti-aging starts with the foundation of your skin: Promoting collagen stimulation and allowing your body to regenerate its own natural collagen and elastin. We begin to lose collagen and elastin starting in our early 20’s. If we can work on restoring that naturally with treatments such as PROFOUNDRF, Potenza RF, Microneedling with PRP, or biostimulators, such as Sculptra Aesthetics, dermal fillers can then be used minimally—as we can create, shape, and sculpt a more naturally enhanced you.

This approach leaves you with longer-lasting results, and a more effective treatment.

Our consultation process starts with a complete analysis and assessment of your skin and your short-term and long-term goals. This leads us toward a custom treatment plan consisting of proper medical-grade skin care and the treatments that are right for you. *As a member of The Cakery Infusions, you can enjoy 10% off all Cupertino Facial Esthetics treatments and services!

Schedule your complimentary virtual or in-person consultation to get started on achieving a more refreshed and rejuvenated you.

Cold Plunge Aftercare

After your Cold Plunge, do not shower right away. Let your body warm up on its own. Cover yourself with a blanket, wear a sweatshirt, or sip a warm drink to speed up your body’s recovery after a Cold Plunge. You can also walk around to help your body generate heat.

If your body still doesn’t warm up after several minutes, you may take a warm shower. It is highly recommended to let your body gently adjust to changes in temperature.
